Jill Malone has won the 2010 Lambda Literary Award for Lesbian Fiction for her second novel A Field Guide to Deception. Established in 1989, the “Lammys” have become the most prestigious literary award offered specifically to LGBT authors. The Lambda Literary Foundation says: “If a book has a gold sticker saying ‘Winner of the Lambda Literary Award’ on its cover, you know it is both brilliantly written and a meaningful examination of the LGBTQ experience.”
Previous winners include Sarah Waters, Ellen Hart, and Elana Dykewomon — who was also nominated this year for Risk; we’re sorry that she had to miss out this time round, but thankful that it was to a fellow Bywater author.
A Field Guide to Deception was also a finalist for the 2010 Ferro-Grumley Award.
